Some of America's first live soap opera's and prime time live drama shows fed nationally to the Blue network and Mutual network from WEBR Buffalo.
WEBR presented one of America's first Italian ethnic programs in 1931 hosted by Emolino Rico. Thanks to his Son Lenny it has become the longest continuous such program in America.
In 1926 WEBR presented Podeszwa & Kordula. A radio comedy about a polish couple living in Buffalo, NY. Their program featured Father Justin Figas who gave birth to one of America's longest running polish religious programs. It is Father Justin's Rosary Hour which will continue to live on WEBR each weekend along with the all new Polish-American Show with Andy Golebiowski.
Several of America's greatest radio personalities whose voices were heard on WEBR are now in the Buffalo Broadcaster's Hall of Fame.
The list goes on and on. It is a great responsibility we have to protect and honor the history of one of America's great institutional legacy radio stations. Owned by Buffalo's two great newspapers, The Buffalo Evening News and The Courier Express. In 97 years only two men have the distinction of signing on WEBR in Buffalo they are Herbert Howell who did it in 1924 and William Yuhnke who does it again in 2020. Bill has vowed to keep this Western New York institution alive for another millennium.
